Our Story

It all began in Tia Ilonka's kitchen.

In 2011, her passion grew into a small stand at a Latino market on Venice — bringing Dominican food to the community officially for the first time.

In February 2022, with dedication and the dream of bringing the taste of the Dominican Republic to Los Angeles, she launched a GoFundMe campaign to that rallied her community’s support. With their help, the Karibbean Cuisine Food Truck was born, bringing comfort, flavor, and culture to Los Angeles one plate at a time.

In June 2024, after more than a decade of hard work and perseverance, that dream grew into something even greater: our very own restaurant. We proudly opened our doors, creating a home where Dominican food and culture could thrive on the West Coast.

What inspires us every day is simple: the joy of sharing our roots and flavors with a community that once had little access to Dominican cuisine. Every bite is made with care, dedication, and the warmth of home—because for us, food isn’t just about eating, it’s about connection, culture, and love.
